Friday night

Many classes kick off their reunion activities with an informal Friday night get together.  The evening should consist of ice breaker games.  This night is intended to loosen classmates up in an informal, neutral and relaxed atmosphere prior to the grand event. Typically these are held at a local restaurant or bar. Usually light Hors d’houevres are served and classmates pay for their own cocktails at these gatherings

Family Reunion Planning – TimeTable

Posted on September 5, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas |

Family reunions are lots of fun to attend but can be overwhelming to organize! Especially if your family is big and spread out all over the country or the world for that matter. Here’s a timetable to refer to for your family reunion planning. Adjust as needed to fit the specifics of your event.

16 to 12 months before your Family Reunion:

  • Get Organized – Create an effective family reunion planning committee. Ask family members who have a strong organizational streak- if the committee isn’t organized, the reunion won’t be either. Decide how often you should meet.
  • Select a Family Reunion Type – How big and how expensive? Consider realistically what family members can afford.
  • Select a Date – What time of year is best? And how long do you want to spend with all those relatives? Make sure you provide family members with ample time to prepare for this event- especially if a lot of travel will be involved. People need time to budget money and time away from work.

6 Great Ideas For Family Reunion Decorations

Posted on August 29, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , , |

Decorations for your family reunion should reflect the mood and theme of your event. Here’s a few suggestions to help get you started.

Family Reunion Wall Charts Decorations:

One of the most popular ideas for family reunion decorations are the large family charts which show all the family members and how they are related. They start with the ancestor and show all the cousins, aunts, and uncles and other relatives attending the reunion, and lets you see how everyone is hooked together. If you are feeling creative, use brown butcher paper to create a giant tree skeleton (trunk and branches)background and hang the chart on the tree. You can also cut out various colored leaves with the names of family members to use on your chart.

Memorial Day Weekend Party – An All-American day

Posted on May 22, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , , |

There are many reasons to celebrate Memorial Day weekend. The beginning of summer, the opening of swimming pools, the end of school, a long weekend and, most importantly, a time for remembrance and observance! Most families have special ways of celebrating the holiday and honoring those who have died serving the country. In these years of war there is a special poignancy to this holiday, so take some time to remember, fly the flag, and enjoy every minute of the long weekend.

Memorial Day Party Decorations:

There’s no such thing as being too patriotic, especially on Memorial Day. A red-white-and blue theme helps us remember our veterans.

  • No symbol is more fitting than the American flag. Now they are even easier to display, with flag poles made specifically for decks, yards and picnics and even tailgate parties! Remember if you’re flying an American flag, it flies at half-mast until noon.
  • Decorate with red, white and blue balloons, flowers, vases, tablecloths and tableware.
  • Cloth napkins not only add style to your holiday, but they won’t blow away as easily as paper ones.
  • String red, white and blue fairy lights in trees and bushes to add a cool glow after the sun goes down. For a more elegant touch, hang mini lanterns on a string above your party area.

Earth Day For Kids Party Ideas & Invitations

Posted on April 10, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas | Tags: , , , , , , , |

Earth day is a birthday! A day to celebrate earth, appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment. As responsible crew members of the spaceship earth we can teach our children to make a difference. This is not something we should do only on Earth Day celebration, but each and every day with good habits that are part of their day to day routine. Let’s make a start this Earth Day!

Earth Day For Kids

Earth Day Party Invitations – It’s all about using minimal resources and having the least amount of impact on the environment. So why not send online invitations with a nature theme template. This way there is very little wastage involved.

By involving your child in sending the invite you could turn a simple activity into a learning experience. Choose a time of the day when you are relatively free and your child is fresh. Explain to them about electricity and how it is important for them to switch off the lights every time they leave the room. Even three year olds can understand this. Answer your child’s curiosity in as simple a language as you can. They understand more than you think they do!

Earth Day For Kids

Earth Day Party Time For Kids – An earth day for kids party could be as simple as a visit to the zoo, a farm, a park or even star gazing. Using simple things like glow in the dark stickers you could explain how the stars and moon are always in the sky even during the day, yet they are invisible to us on earth. Watching ducks feed their ducklings at the zoo might seem boring to you, but is an adventure in itself for children.

Naughty Bachelorette Party Ideas for Everyone

Posted on April 3, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , , |

Bachelorette parties are renowned for inspiring women to really “let their hair down.” Frankly, women are seldom so naughty and as goofy as when they are giggling hysterically over a novel party favor, gag gift, or risqué party game. Males are objectified and generally ridiculed to gales of gleeful laughter. The female bonding is particularly strong and enjoyable as the silliness reigns. Sometimes these Bachelorette parties attempt to copy male bashes by taking the bride to Chippendales-type strip clubs, or hiring private male strippers for the party.

Whether you want the bachelorette party at home or outside, you should keep in mind the personality and wishes of the bride. Although everyone else in the bridal party may expect and desire a stripper, the preferences of the honoree need to be respected. Don’t embarrass the bride with a stripper if you really know that wouldn’t amuse her. Here are several possibilities to help you get started.

The Spa Bachelorette Party Ideas: Plan a day at a local day spa, or even better, at one that requires a weekend road trip. Massages, facials, mud baths, seaweed wraps, manicures, pedicures – any of these permit plenty of time for the girls to share thoughts and laughs together. The bride will appreciate the stress-buster, and you all may find great new looks for the wedding day. It can be as extravagant as going to a resort for a pampering weekend, and as simple as gathering at someone’s house to paint each other’s nails and eat delicious food.

10 Great – Free Bridal Shower Games

Posted on April 1, 2008. Filed under: Party Ideas, Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , , , |

A bridal shower is a very important part of a wedding. It is a great time to get together and pamper the bride. The time is usually spent eating good food, playing some games and opening gifts. However, not all brides are fond of the shower games and do not like to be put on the spot. To make the day a relaxing and stress-free time for the bride, consider including bridal shower games that everyone will enjoy, without making the guest of honor stressed. Here are free bridal shower games we have handpicked for just this purpose:

What was the bride wearing? – Before the wedding shower, make a list of 10 questions about how the bride looks. For example, what color was her shirt? Shoes? Was she wearing earrings? Bracelet? Was her hair down or tied up? Then, once all of the guests have arrived and had some time to get to know one another, ask the bride to casually leave the room without telling anyone. Hand out paper and pens to all the guests. Then announce that the next game is “What was the bride wearing?” Take out your list of questions, and ask the questions with each guest writing down their answers. The bride can then return to the room and everyone can see how they did. The guest who answers the most questions correctly wins a prize.

The Bridal Shower Purse Game – Have players find a partner and sit together with their purses. Then call off a list of items one by one. For example, lipstick, quarter, button, fingernail clipper, scissors, cell phone, picture of family, shoelace, rock, etc. The first person to find the item in their purse and show it to you gets a point. The team with the most points in the end wins. You will be surprised at the crazy things people have in their purses!
